Apps from magazine brands may get lucky and show up in one of Apple’s
on-air spots, which is a surefire road to App Store stardom. But in

Industry observers: "NYTimes ignoring deep flaws in online business model" [MediaWeek]

Based on the details that have emerged, the Time’s meek metered
approach will result in just 15 percent of readers paying for content
access—a figure unlikely to start a revolution. And even though the
company announced its plans a year ago, few publishers have joined the
cause, outside of several U.K.-based papers and Long Island’s
Newsday—neither of which have generated meaningful numbers of paying
subscribers.

Forbes' New Changes Mean More Blending of Ads, Editorial [AdWeek]

Forbes Media took a radical step last year when it started to put
advertisers and outside contributors on equal footing with its
editorial staffers, in print and online. Now, it’s going one step
further with a Web redesign that will give advertisers even greater
presence on the site. Under a three-month-old program called AdVoice,
advertisers could pay to have their labeled blogs appear alongside
those of editorial staffers. Now, their contributions can run anywhere
on the site that a staff writer or contributor can appear, not just
the blogs section.
